Today was the backbreaking paving. After laying down the sand I was on my hands and knees leveling it over one section at a time.
“Well that’s how I like my women.” Came a cheery voice
I got to my feet, stretched my back and grinned. She handed me a drink. I again apologized but she ignored it
“You’re forgiven, but you must let me make you lunch.”
I tried to protest but eventually gave in. We looked at each other not saying anything then Judith broke the silence.
“Well shouldn’t you be on your knees.”
I laughed and got back to it.
At lunch I got to know more about Judith and her girlfriend. From what I gather the girlfriend was very possessive, a control freak and it seemed her way or no way. I shook my head at her
“So why stay, just leave her.”
“It’s not that simple Max….I gave up my career for her. She then helped finance my own business so I could run it from home. I worked hard and I have all this why should I give it up. .”
After lunch I was now laying the pavers. It was damn hot, the sweat was pouring off me. I then heard a splash and looked over. Judith was in the pool. God I give anything to be in there. I went back to pounding in the pavers when Judith swam by. I glanced up and noticed she was on her back and my jaw dropped. She was naked my eyes couldn’t believe what they were seeing nor would they look away.
“Jeez.” I managed to tear my eyes away and gain some composure but it was short lived. I slowly glanced back over and saw her smile.
“Fuck.” I said under my breath as i was caught out.
I fought my urges and continued pounding the pavers. The splashing had cease and she left the pool to my relief. Unfortunately she went to the opposite side of the pool and spread out on the outside lounge chair. As much as I tried not too, I found myself staring at her through my sunglasses hoping she wasn’t thinking I was. Her perfectly toned body, small rounded breasts and her dark triangular patch had me in a trance.
I was aroused, my senses were out of my control dazed by the image of the water droplets reflecting off her body. Judith then widened her legs a little giving me a deeper look. I started to feel light-headed when I realized I had stopped breathing. Talk about your lonely housewife. I was bought back to reality by a booming voice behind
“I HOPE YOU’RE NOT LEARING AT MY GIRLFRIEND.”
I stood immediately. “Umm no no I wasn’t I was just trying to figure best way to lay rest of these.” I lied badly
She didn’t believe me either. “I pay you to work not ogle at Judith. You continue this and I’ll find someone else to do your job and you won’t get a cent out of me. Do I make myself clear.”
“Yep you have.’ I growled
I went back to work cursing when the girlfriend went to Judith and called her a cheap whore in no quiet manner and to take herself inside. I heard a yelp and looked over. She yanked Judith from her seat.
“Yeoow I’m going…you’re hurting me.” She whined and cowered
“I’ll do bloody more than that you slut.”
I heard the back door slam
Another day and I did not want to go to work, I wanted to quit. I had had enough of Judith’s games and her girlfriend’s draconian behaviour. But the morning went reasonably quickly. I got most of the paving finished which was a relief because it looked like rain was on the way. There was no Judith, she didn’t come out with my coffee, she must have really copped it I guessed. By lunchtime I still hadn’t seen her and was concerned.
I knocked on the back door and called but she didn’t appear. I went in ready with the excuse to use the toilet. She wasn’t in the kitchen or family room. I went to the bathroom and noticed blood in the sink. I panicked and made my way to the bedroom expecting to see the worst and collided. Judith screamed and I jumped back
“It’s me I didn’t mean….Christ what happen to your face.” I asked
Judith’s face was swollen, her left eye bruised and nose bleeding. Judith pushed past me to the bathroom trying to stop the blood from spilling
“Just leave I fell over it’s nothing.” Judith leaned against the basin and the blood flowed freely
I immediately grabbed a towel “put this to your nose.” And I held it
“Owww.” She tried to remove it
“No we have to stop the bleeding, trust me ok. Keep it there till I get back.”
I went into the kitchen and got some ice from the freezer and wrapped it up. I found Judith sitting on the edge of the bath towel away.
“Hey hey put it back please.” and she obeyed. I put the ice on the back of her neck. “This should help slow the bleeding.” I looked her over not liking what I saw
After a while I slowly removed the towel from her face, her nose very swollen and red but the bleeding had stopped.
“Ok that’s good but don’t touch or it will start again.” I advised
We went into the kitchen and I made us some coffee. Judith wouldn’t look at me.
“I can take you to the hospital.” I offered
“NO.” was her quick reply
“Do you want to talk about it.” I pushed
She shook her head “I’m just clumsy I’m fine.” She then tried to smile, but she wasn’t convincing me
“Is there anything I can do.”
“No Max I’ll be alright, please you should get back to work I am in enough trouble for distracting you.” Judith said sadly
I returned to work but I was too uneasy by the state of Judith's appearance. I clinched my teeth “that fucking bitch.” growling to myself. It was obvious her girlfriend had thumped her.
I didn’t get much farther when the rain started, I was now behind schedule. I put my things under cover and packed my ute for the day
“I thought you would have had this finished.” Barked the woman to my back
I rolled my eyes “Yeh well can’t help the weather.”
“You’re not very professional in your attitude, maybe I made a mistake in hiring a woman to do this job.”
That was it I had had enough of her insinuations
“No you didn’t, …….I made the mistake in taking this job. I have had enough of your crap, I’m not going to take your bullshit anymore.... get yourself another landscaper I quit.” I growled to her
I threw my gear into the ute. I then turned around to get my toolbox and saw Judith looking through the window and felt sorry for her. Her girlfriend stood directly in front of me.
“You will finish what you started.” she ordered
“No” and walked around her to get my toolbox and placed it in the ute.
She then grabbed me and spun me around “You will finish.”
I looked at her grip then back at her “Let go of me now, I will not take this from the likes of you.” I snarled
She didn’t let me go and yanked me closer “I don’t put up with insolence from my staff.”
I scoffed “I’m not your staff so fuck off bitch.” I jerked my arm away and she pushed me up against the ute winding me slightly
“Jeezus you are one crazy mother fucker, you have some serious anger management issues." I opened the door to my ute, she inturn slammed it and shoved me to the ground.
“I will not have a low life like you disrespect me in my own home.”
I narrowed my eyes and got to my feet. “Is this what you like to do when someone doesn’t agree to your terms, beat them up. Is that why Judith has a black eye. Bet that makes you feel big and powerful well you’re not. You are nothing but a pathetic excuse for a human being.” I sprayed
The woman went red and lunged at me in a fit of rage. I quickly stepped out the way and used her momentum to throw her against the side of my ute. Shocked and not expecting the retaliation I grabbed her and threw her across the lawn. I went and stood over her.
“You stay away from me you fucking psycho.” I turned to leave when she yelled
“Don’t think this is over you fucking cretin.” Screamed the woman
“Oh it’s over all right.” I yelled back and walked to my ute and took a crow bar from the back. I went over to white sports coupe and smashed her windscreen and dented the bonnet. I then got back in my ute and sped off still pumped up.
That night I waited anxiously, expecting a visit from the police but it never came about.
